Description of the Building & Zoning Department
The Building & Zoning Department maintains the public safety and welfare of the City's physical structures and property by enforcing building construction codes, life-safety codes, property maintenance codes, accessibility codes, zoning codes, and conducting universal residential occupancy inspections. The Department is involved in all proceedings before, during, and after demolition. Also, the Department assigns address numbers for new construction.

Permits and Forms
The Department issues permits for building, demolition, electrical, plumbing, signage, occupancy, agent authorization, and restoration of services. To download applications for these permits, please click the appropriate icon on the right side of this page.
The Department issues citations for ordinance violations including weeds, junk, trash, derelict vehicles, property maintenance violations, exterior and interior violations, and similar violations. The Department sends citations to court and make court appearances.
